Mental Illness

Mental Illness

Hi, everyone, I want to write about Mental Illness----a subject that no one wants to talk about, it is like no one thinks about how mental illness can have a impact on a family well it is a subject that has to be talked about because we do not know enough about mental illness it has been so miss-understood, it is time that we need to address the myths about mental illness we need to bring it to the surface and address the problems people who face mental illness, it is time that we embrace mental illness like we do any other disease, like cancer, and other medical conditions
What is mental illness?...........do we know, one thing is is not? a freak illness-
people with mental illness are smart, thoughtful and they have feelings for the most part they deserve to be treated like they are human, not a freak show, mental illness is part of a persons personality they have to live with it, the severity of the illness or the kind plays a role, sometimes I wonder are they more happier people because they live in there own little world for some it is there world some do not know that people say things about them or that they get discriminated against from resterants,or from other public places, it is sad if they live in there own little world and for the most part do not bother anybody, now I want to talk about the causes , it can happen to anyone, at any time, we do not know exactly how the brain works some are born with down syndrome, some are born with brain damage that stops them from talking, walking these are severe mental illness some mental illness comes from hereditary. so why some people are more accepted than others? double standard mental illness is exactly what it is no matter how you got it it still is mental illness and the standards should be the same for everyone but is not why? there is allot of reasons for mental illness, ennviroment, poverty, lack of education these all play a role, but who has the fixes? not one is any better than the other but yet they are treated differently its sad, that our society does this, categorize people I am just glad that people are becoming more aware of mental illness and accepting the illness not the person that is the key, it is the illness not the person when we see mental illness for what it really is that is when we will be able to help them and they can feel more accepted, people with social phobias, or people who here things or voices people get afraid of them but not even the Dr's can figure out the brain, chemical embalance that causes allot of these illnesses and just with a little medication people can live a normal life but if they are being knocked down or made front of or can not get a job because one may have a anxiety problem that can be fixed with medication, but are not hired because they list this medical ailment on the application they do not get hired, but who knows that person could have been a very good worker if they over look this small problem, or a person with mental illness like anxiety, or depression and does not list it on the application and gets the job, but than gets fired because they could not do the job but was afraid to tell the employer for the fear of not getting the job it is bad no matter how you look at it, they loose out in the long run, Mental illness is not something you should be ashamed of it is part of who they are, I have worked with many people with different ailments,I have a big heart for them, I have not met a violent one, I am sure they are some, but under that surface there is a person who wants to be accepted I found my job to be very rewarding these people have a warm heart when I look into there eyes I do not see the illness I see a person I see warmth and I see love, when Dr's say there is no chance there brain dead, some of the patients have proved the Dr's wrong the people come out of it and can talk or move or have some kind of life so what does that tell you, about the brain? mysterious when they say oh she does not understand what you are telling her how do they know how do they know that the person can understand what they are saying about her but just can not talk, when I worked with these people the teachers said they can not understand anything, I do not believe it I see a response, I see something I touch them or I look straight into there eyes most will just stare, some where in there mind they know something i see a response from them I worked with autistic children some could not talk but they communicate with there eyes or body language to me they are not brain dead some people would laugh and say they can not feel anything or they are violent this is not the case what we only use a very small part of our brain the rest is just there what if we could do something with the other part of the brain what if that part of the brain can take over for the bad part, in some cases like your hearing if you have a bad ear the other one picks up the sound for the bad one what if people who have mental illness can be helped by using the other part of the brain, this is a big wonder it gives hope to families who have loved ones who suffer from mental illness it is a start
